Hey Everyone!!! Okay, so we’re super excited you all want to participate in this challenge, it should be fun and help us all get motivated to be a little healthier overall!

We hope you all have had a chance to read the challenge rules. If you have any questions about how to calculate servings or anything related to the competition, feel free to post a question on the blog!

So, I know counting servings of foods can sometimes be tricky for people, especially with casseroles and mixed dishes. So just do your best at breaking down the food you are eating. If it's lasagna, you would count the red sauce as a vegetable, the meat and cheese as meat servings, and the noodles as carbs. So just do your best at estimating the amount you are eating. And remember, you have to count everything you add to foods, so if you add butter, cream, oil, mayo, etc, basically anything that has fat or carbs in it, you have to count it as something.

Also, some may be wondering about drinks and how they fit in. Sooooo anything with sugar like soda, koolaid, punch, flavored beverages, mixed coffee drinks, etc has to be counted as a sweet. If it has calories, you have to count it. So they are extra. If you drink plain coffee and add cream, you just count the cream as a fat. Plain tea is fine. Anything without calories is okay. But water is totally the best thing to drink, and it helps you not to feel hungry between meals, so drink up!!!! Alcohol does not have to be counted as anything, just note that it is recommended to be consumed in moderation, 1 drink/day for women, 2 drinks/day for men.

Also, some wonder about eating out. As it says on the rules of the challenge, you will get a 5 point deduction for each time you eat out. But you won't lose 10 points for not following the mealplan unless you don't follow your assigned servings while you're eating out. So you can eat out and choose foods that fit in the servings, and you will just lose points for eating out.

As for posting on the blog, basically all you do is click on where it says comments(which is the screen you are on right now) and then in the box on the right side of the screen type in your question or comment, and if you want you can register under your name, otherwise just click on anonymous and type your name at the bottom of the post. If you want your comment to be anonymous, that’s okay too.

Oooooh, and one final note. Don't freak out if you want to eat out, or skip a day of exercise, or if you have a birthday party and eat 5 pieces of cake. All of us will have those days, because no one is perfect. And as we can tell you from the last competition, everyone had bad days and weeks, where they were sure by the end of the week that there was no way they had a chance in the competition, but the person who won the competition actually ate out waaaaay more than everyone else. He ate out seriously like 5-7 times some weeks. But he also exercised way more than everyone else. So, if you know you are going out to dinner one night, eat a few more fruits and veggies or whole grains that day. Or exercise for an hour that day. You can always make up for shortcomings. So, this challenge is really about overall balance, not being perfect everyday. So good luck this week!
